Due to globalization, people all over the world are competing to wear more and more branded clothes and follow the fashion trends. Compare and see, in today's time you have 5 times more clothes than your grandparents. This change in the lives of the people has come due to the large number of new trends in the market and the comparatively cheap clothes. Let us know that by following these fashion trends, we are dissolving poison in our life itself.

Garbage is becoming cloth

Worldwide the fashion industry produces about 80 billion new clothes annually. It has increased by 400% in the last 20 years. According to statistics, 5300 million tonnes of yarn are made in a year, 70% of which goes directly into the garbage dump. On the average, in Western countries, clothes are worn only 7 times before they are considered useless. After which it goes out of use. According to a research, 57% of the garbage heap is filled only with clothes. At the same time, on an average, a family throws 30 kg of clothes every year. According to a university of Colorado research, only 15% of clothing is recycled or donated, and the rest goes directly to landfill sites or is burned.

How much poison are dissolving fashion Trends

Do you know? In most countries, where the clothes are produced, the toxic water from the factories is thrown directly into the rivers. Due to which the water of the river gets polluted. Water contains toxic substances like lead, mercury and arsenic etc. This poisonous water easily spreads into the sea through rivers. After which this fast water dissolves poison in the life and lives of millions of people living on the shore.

Apart from this, synthetic fibers are used in 72% of our clothes. Synthetic fibers like polyester are actually plastic fibers. These are non-biodegradable. It can take up to 200 years for them to decompose and be destroyed. More air pollution than shipping and international air travel around the world is caused by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane from the textile industry alone.

Green house Gas is spewing fashion

Not only this, the synthetic fibers (polyester, acrylic, nylon, etc.) used in most of our clothes are made from fossil fuels, which use more energy in production than natural fibers. At the same time, due to the electricity used during its manufacture and transportation, a lot of greenhouse gases are also produced. Also, "cheap synthetic fibers also generate gases like N2O, which is 300 times more dangerous than CO2.

A huge amount of fresh water is used for the dyeing and other processes of all our fabrics. According to an estimate, about 200 tonnes of fresh water is used for dyeing every ton of cloth. Not only this, cotton is usually cultivated in hot and dry areas, due to which a lot of water is also required for its production. About 20,000 liters of water is required to produce just 1 kg of cotton.

One Jeans drinks your 3 year old water

According to the UN Environment Program, a person drinks 3781 liters of water in 3 years. At the same time, the same amount of water is spent in making only one jeans. Synthetic fibers like polyester and acrylic are made from plastic polymers. In synthetic clothing, only acrylic can be recycled. But this process is not very popular due to its complex. About 20,000 tonnes of water is used in a year for dyeing clothes. After which this polluted water with chemical colors spreads pollution by going directly into the rivers and streams.
