India's retail inflation eased to 7.04 percent in May from 7.79 percent in april, as food prices fell sharply in May. Headline inflation, which stood at 8.31 percent in april, was 7.97 percent in May and 5.01 percent in the same period last fiscal (FY22). This is the 5th consecutive month that the reserve bank of india (RBI) has cut inflation to 2-6 percent.
Consumer fuel and electricity inflation eased to 9.54 percent in april from 10.80 percent in the previous month. However, inflation in vegetables, the main consumer commodity, rose to 18.26 percent from 15.41 percent in the previous month.Rural retail inflation stood at 7.01 percent, according to the Federal Reserve. It is noteworthy that it was 8.38 percent last month. The RBI has revised its retail inflation forecasts for FY2022-23.For the first three quarters of fiscal 2023, India's inflation will be above 6 percent of RBI's high inflation. According to the june quarter - 7.5%, september quarter - 7.4%, december quarter - 6.2%, march quarter - 5.8%.Retail inflation in india stood at 7.04 percent in May, while fuel and food prices continued to rise in the United States. US inflation rose to an unexpected 40-year high of 8.6 percent.The U.S. Department of Labor said in a statement on friday that the US Consumer Price Index (WPI) has risen sharply since december 1981.
