The complainant Jabez Samuel had sought compensation from the hyderabad District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission from ola Cabs.Customer complained
The complainant alleged that he was forced to pay Rs 861 for the journey he performed in october 2021, when the driver had dropped him midway, 5 km before the destination. In this case, the commission has directed ola Cabs to pay a trip charge of Rs 861 along with interest (12% p.a.) to the complainant and Rs 88,000 for mental agony and Rs 7,000 for the cost of proceedings.
Significantly, in the complaint filed under Section 35 of the Consumer Protection Act, Samuel said that on 19 october 2021, he had booked a cab from ola Cabs for four hours. Samuel alleged that the cab was very dirty. He also alleged that the driver had refused his requests to turn on the air conditioner and was misbehaving. Due to this the complainant had to opt for an alternate vehicle and skip some programs.
Used to call for bill
According to the complainant, after a bill of Rs 861 was generated for the incomplete journey, Samuel said that he had complained through email. Even this has not solved his problem. Samuel then said that the ola customer care executives called repeatedly asking them to pay the bill, after which they paid it in january 2022, although the actual distance traveled should be only Rs 150 to 200.
In such a situation, now the Consumer Forum has ordered ola Cabs to pay a compensation of Rs 95 thousand to the complainant in this case. Along with this, it has been asked to make the experience of the users easy.
