Life Span of Honey Bee is 50% Shorter now?...

Bees had a life expectancy of roughly 34 days in the 1970s. The average lifespan of bees is now barely 18 days, down from roughly 50 years ago.

Maryland university did a research about bees. In this research, it was found that the life span of bees has reduced to half since the last five decades. Due to changes in the environment over time, not only has the life span of bees reduced, but about 10 percent of bees have also come to the verge of extinction.

During research studies, it was revealed that in the 1970s, the life span of bees was about 34 days. Now after about 50 years, the average life span of bees has come down to only 18 days. This is happening due to the changing environment and the use of medicines in crops. Due to the introduction of bee keeping business in the colonies, their life span has also reduced. Bees living in colonies die at a younger age.

Bees use the pollen of plants and flowers for their nutrition and to make honey. Now pesticides and medicines are being used in crops. When the bees sit on the flowers and crops that have been sprinkled with the medicine, then along with the pollen, the pesticides also go inside them, due to which their life span is decreasing.
