Nepal is shaken by an earthquake of magnitude 5.8, and Delhi-NCR, Uttarakhand, and rajasthan are also affected. The shaking lasted for about ten to fifteen seconds.
These areas are in high hazard zone
The high hazard zones are divided into small patches in eastern, central and northern areas all over Delhi. Most of these areas are adjacent to the banks on both sides of the Yamuna. Among these, there are colonies of east delhi which are very densely populated and houses with weak foundation. Apart from these, VIP Lutyens Zone also comes in this zone, in which parliament House, all Central Ministries and VIP residential areas come. Areas of delhi University's North Campus, Sarita Vihar, Geeta Colony, Shakarpur, Paschim Vihar, Wazirabad, Rithala, Rohini, Jahangirpuri, Bawana, Karol Bagh and Janakpuri also fall in the high hazard zone on the 'very high' index, while indira gandhi Gandhi Airport, Najafgarh and Burari are on the 'extremely dangerous' index.
JNU, AIIMS, Chhatarpur areas are the safest
Recently, according to the Ministry's report based on 1:10,000 scale seismic map of delhi, jawaharlal nehru University, AIIMS, Chhatarpur and Narayana etc. are the safest areas in terms of earthquakes. The areas of Hauz Khas and Vasant Kunj also come under the flame hazard zone.
