Google Doodle lauds P.K. Rosy - 120th Birthday!!!
P.K. Rosy, who became the first female lead in malayalam film, is honoured in today's Doodle. Rosy was born Rajamma on this date in 1903 in Thiruvananthapuram, often known as Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala.
She broke several barriers when she played the female lead in the film "Vigathakumaran" (The Lost Child), especially since performing arts were not generally supported for women in many facets of society.
Rosy developed an interest for acting from a young age. Rosy broke down barriers with her performance in the malayalam movie Vigathakumaran during a time when performing arts were discouraged in many sectors of society, especially for women (The Lost Child). Rosy's tale is pertinent to discussions about representation in the media even though she never garnered praise for her work while she was alive. Rosy, who was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, in 1903, discovered her affinity for acting at a young age. She became well-known after starring as the female lead in the 1928 film Vigathakumaran (The Lost Child). Backlash was brought on by her portrayal of an upper-caste woman in the movie, which featured a scene in which the male lead kissed a flower in her hair.
As a result of being compelled to flee the state, Rosy is reported to have boarded a lorry and travelled to tamil Nadu, where she married the driver and made her home as "Rajamma."
