Happy Siblings Day!!! History/Theme...

We engage in pointless competition and argumentation with them, share our most priceless memories with them, and—most importantly—cannot survive without them. We're referring to the ties between the siblings. There's a cliché that when you're among your siblings, you instantly turn back into a child, regardless of how old you are or how hectic your life gets. On april 10 every year, Siblings Day is observed in an effort to preserve this link.

History

The first Siblings Day was celebrated in 1995 and was started by Claudia Evart, a freelance paralegal from New York, in memory of her deceased siblings. The two siblings of Claudia, Alan and Lisette, both perished in separate incidents. Claudia created Siblings Day as an annual celebration of their lives and in remembrance of their memory.

On april 10, Lisette's birthday, Siblings Day was first observed. Over time, Siblings Day became more widely recognised. Siblings Day has been observed annually since 1998 thanks to the efforts of former US President Bill Clinton and the governors of 39 US states. Siblings Day started to become well-known all over the world and is now observed on april 10 every year.

Importance

As it acknowledges the special relationship between siblings and emphasises their relevance in our lives, Siblings Day is significant. It gives us a chance to show our brothers and sisters that we care, that we value them, and that we are grateful for them. It inspires us to consider the unique connection we have with them and to foster enduring, wholesome connections. It's a day to recognise the assistance, company, and comprehension that siblings give to us throughout our lives.

2023 Theme

Sibling Strengths is the focus of this year's Siblings Day. The theme encourages people to consider their relationships with their siblings and to consider their own strengths and favourite sibling.
