Union budget: 10,000 additional scientific seats, 6,500 greater in IITS in edu push

Finance minister nirmala sitharaman, while providing the union price range 2025-26 on saturday, introduced that the authorities will add 6,500 extra seats at indian institutes of technology (IIT) and 10,000 extra scientific seats subsequent 12 months to accommodate greater students.

Sitharaman stated the government will upload engineering seats at IITS that began functioning after 2014 and enlarge hostel and infrastructural capacity of IIT patna.

She said the government will establish five national centres of excellence (coe) for skilling, a brand new coe in synthetic intelligence (ai) for training, and 50,000 atal tinkering labs at government colleges together with broadband connectivity to all government secondary faculties under bharatnet.
