When Women's Day comes around, many women are talked about in the media. Meetings are held in a hurry. Accomplished women are honoured. But no one cares about Men's Day. It has no value. Men's achievements are being remembered on international Men's Day. Men's health issues, stress and other issues are discussed separately.
Men's Day is officially organized by the governments in some countries with the cooperation of UNESCO and NGOs in some countries. Having a day for women seems to undermine the principle that all men are equal. With this, some intellectuals thought that the balance should be brought about by organizing a day for men. professor Thomas of the university of Missouri in Kansas, USA felt that a day is needed to appreciate the services men are doing to society. Finally, under his leadership, international Men's Day was organized for the first time on february 7, 1992.
In 1999, the United Nations approved the organization of 'Men's Day on november 19 to mark Tilak Singh's movement for men in Trinidad and Tobago. More than 80 countries now celebrate Men's Day. Our country is also on that list. But it is noteworthy that a woman started the campaign for this day in our country. International Men's Day in our country has been widely promoted by lawyer 'Uma Challa' who advocates on behalf of activist men. She has been in this endeavour since 2007. In some cases, the harassment faced by men due to bias towards women is mainly mentioned as violence. In the framework of an anti-male judiciary, they are carrying the responsibility of providing justice to men. Since 2001, international Men's Day has been celebrated on a different basis every year. The helping Men and Boys theme has been announced for this year.
