Telangana Tea Merchants' Association members have warned that contaminated and substandard tea is being sold in huge quantities in the telangana district, and that it is quickly spreading to neighbouring locations. Members of the telangana Tea Merchants' Association have this to say about it: "Initially, the problem was limited to karnataka and tamil Nadu's rural areas, but it has now expanded to telangana and andhra pradesh as well. Other states have it as well." Following that, P. Satish Kumar, Designated Officer, Department of Food Safety, demonstrated to us how to check for the presence of tea powder adulteration in order to raise public awareness.

Tea powder generated from tea is used to make tea. Many people assume that a tea powder is only good if it has a pleasing colour and aroma. A few people take advantage of this and perpetrate frauds, such as artificially colouring diet powder with pigments and adding perfumes with chemicals. Artificial pigments and scents have been linked to a variety of illnesses, including cancer. Quality diet powder and groceries should be sold at all tea shops.

More chemical pigments are added to the diet powder when it is blended with milk to make the colour more accessible. A good diet powder will gently dissolve in the water. If sawdust is mixed with other things, it will float on its own in the water. Only when you put a good toothpaste in hot water will the colour of the water change. When mixed dieth powder is added to regular water, the colour of the water changes. When regular water is combined with the powder, a ring forms at the water level in the tumbler. This can be used to identify the diet powder that has been combined.

"When synthetic dye is put to low-quality diet powder, it reacts with hot water to form a solid colour. It will give the impression of being of high quality."

If four drops of diet powder are dropped on standard filter paper and it turns white, you know it's a good powder since the red colour separates on the paper.

So, if we have any worries about the tea we are drinking in a tea store, we can ask for the tea powder and put it in the water to see if it is adulterated or not.
