World Hepatitis Day: Hepatitis is more dangerous than HIV?


On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day 2022, health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made a big statement, he said that hepatitis is spreading like hiv AIDS in the country and the biggest cause of death due to hepatitis is that people are not aware of its symptoms and the seriousness of this disease. Therefore, it is not detected in the initial stage and this disease takes place at home. Not only this, he clearly said that a large population of india is fighting this disease.


What does WHO say?

However, to make the world hepatitis free, the World health Organization (WHO) has set a target by 2030. The organization said that till april 21, about 170 new cases of hepatitis have been found in children. This year a theme has been kept for this disease vigilance, the theme 2022-“I can’t wait”.

One person dies every 30 seconds from hepatitis-related disease in the world, so can't wait. Now is the time to get rid of this disease. Let us tell you that there are five major strains of hepatitis such as- A, B, -C, D and E. According to WHO, about 325 million people are infected with hepatitis B and C in the world and about 13 lakh people die every year. 

Talking about Hepatitis, Dr Mahesh Gupta, Senior Consultant, Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital said that Hepatitis is mainly a liver disease which is caused due to viral infection. Swelling occurs in the liver of the affected person, but the symptoms will not be clear in the beginning. 

Hepatitis Treatment

If there is swelling in the liver, the colour of the skin gets yellow, looking at all these symptoms, some tests are done such as abdominal ultrasound, liver function test, liver biopsy, autoimmune blood marker test, fibro scan, by which this disease is detected. Then after the identification of chronic hepatitis such as hepatitis B, C, D and acute- A and E, it is necessary to take medicines for them. Gradually the patient recovers, but if the infection is more then the liver gets worse.
