Five-month-old baby dies of measles, death toll rises to nine

Officials said that the five-month-old child had died on december 13 in Govandi area. The report that came on friday confirmed the death due to measles. On friday, 37 children were admitted to hospitals and 26 were discharged, the statement said.

According to the report, out of a total of 2,57,525 children in the age group of nine months to five years in mumbai, 48,093 children have been given Measles-Rubella (MR) special vaccine. According to the health Department report, on 15 december, the number of measles cases in maharashtra stood at 1,050, while the death toll stood at 20. Children in the age group of nine months to five years will be given additional doses of MR vaccine at an interval of 28 days under a special drive from december 15, the health department said.
