Are you spending more time on smartphone? Know this!

Everyone from kids to adults is using smartphones or computers these days. They spend most of their time on these screens. Although the evidence for the harmful effects of screen time on both adults and children is overwhelming, reducing the time spent in front of screens can improve your family's health. Not only using smartphones or computers but also watching tv screens for too long can harm you.
Effects of prolonged screen time:

1) Staring at a screen for long periods slows down the blink rate, causing dry eyes and headaches.

2) Excessive screen time leads to a sedentary lifestyle, which increases the risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

3) Blue light from screens suppresses melatonin production, causing insomnia.

4) Spending too much time on screens reduces connection with others and leads to feelings of isolation.
5) Children and adolescents who spend too much time on screens experience impaired cognitive development and difficulty with attention, memory, and problem-solving.

6) Excessive screen time increases depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns.

7) Sitting in front of a screen for a long time can cause stress-related diseases like carpal tunnel syndrome.
Ways to reduce screen time:

1) Use screen time tracking tools on your device or download some apps to control the amount of time you spend on your device each day.

2) Make a schedule listing when you will use your device and when you won't and stick to it.

3) Enable the 'Do Not Disturb' option on your device while you are eating or spending time with your family.

4) Give your eyes some rest, and keep your eyes away from the screen for a few minutes.

5) Do activities like reading, exercising, or spending time with friends and family other than screen time.

6) Keep the device away from you while eating or when you are in bed.
