Is chili powder adulterated? Cancer-causing fakes?

In today's age, adulteration is more prevalent than ever. So identifying the real chili powder is not an easy task. As far as tamilnadu is concerned, there are no types of gravy without chili powder. We are spicy food lovers. It is rare to find kitchens without red chili powder. They bought the previously selected chilies, dried them, pounded them on a stone, and prepared them. Nowadays we buy chili powder directly from the market due to lack of time. But there is an adulteration in these. Here are some tips to avoid buying fake powders.
Some people mix a chemical called 'Sudan Dye' in chili powder. It can cause cancer. Consuming chili powder mixed with color powder and brick powder can lead to problems like diarrhea. So be careful. Traders are adulterating red chili powder to make a good profit. Brick powder, artificial colorants, old and spoiled pepper, and lime powder are added to fake chili powder. Food Safety and Standards Authority of india (FSSAI) has come up with some guidelines so that people are not fooled by such fakes. Take a tumbler of water and add 1 teaspoon of red chili powder to it. If it dissolves and the red color comes out alone, it is adulterated. Rub the rest of the chili powder on your hands. If it feels rough, it means there is brick dust in it. If your hands feel smooth like soap, know that soapy ingredients are mixed in.
