World Hepatitis Day :"It's time to act"!!!

Viral infections are often the cause of hepatitis, a disease characterized by inflammation of the liver. But it can also be brought on by things like drinking alcohol, using specific drugs, and having autoimmune illnesses. Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E are the main forms of viral hepatitis; each has a distinct route of transmission and a range of clinical effects. Every year, the world observes World Hepatitis Day to increase awareness of the disease and to highlight the value of treatment, testing, and prevention. This effort also promotes improved public health regulations to successfully fight the illness.

Date and Theme of the 2024 World Hepatitis Day

This year, on Sunday, July 28, we will mark World Hepatitis Day. "It’s Time for Action," the 2024 theme, emphasizes the pressing need for quick decisions to combat hepatitis globally. The startling fact that a person passes away from a hepatitis-related condition every 30 seconds serves as further evidence for this call to action.

The World Hepatitis Day's history

Every year on July 28, the world observes World Hepatitis Day to promote awareness of hepatitis, including the viral illnesses hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E. Dr. Baruch Blumberg, the Nobel Laureate who identified the hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the 1960s and created a test and vaccine for it, was honored on this day. In 2010, the original May 19 celebration date was shifted to July 28. The World Hepatitis Alliance was founded in 2007 and arranged the first World Hepatitis Day that was driven by the community in 2008.
