Bihar Boy Survives After Swallowing Metal Objects Due to mobile Addiction

In a shocking case from Motihari, Bihar, a young boy narrowly escaped serious harm after swallowing several metal items, including a bunch of keys, two nail cutters, and a knife. The bizarre incident occurred as a result of his addiction to smartphones, online gaming, and social media.

The case came to light when the boy’s family was searching for a missing bunch of keys. The boy revealed that he had swallowed them, initially leading to disbelief from his family. However, after further investigation and medical evaluation, it was confirmed that he had ingested multiple metal objects.

Following a sonography and ultrasound, doctors discovered the metal items in his stomach. Dr. amit Kumar, a physician at a private hospital, performed a one-hour surgery to remove the objects. Remarkably, despite having ingested these items, the boy's condition remained stable.

The boy’s mother explained that he had become addicted to social media, online gaming, and smartphone use, which led to deteriorating mental health. He had previously been engrossed in games like PUBG, which had negatively impacted his mental balance. Recently, he had begun swallowing metal objects, possibly as a misguided attempt to distinguish himself.

Dr. Kumar emphasized the need for parents to monitor their children’s smartphone and social media usage closely. He recommended psychiatric evaluation, counseling, and, if necessary, medication to address such issues. The doctor also advised that children and young people should use mobile phones responsibly to avoid similar incidents.
