The new variant was first identified in germany in june and since then, the XEC variant has appeared in the UK, US, denmark and many other countries.

According to The Independent report, so far the XEC variant of Covid has been found in 500 samples from 27 countries including Poland, Norway, Luxembourg, Ukraine, portugal and China. Experts say that the new variant is spreading rapidly especially in denmark, germany, UK and Netherlands. In such a situation, experts say that this new variant, which is a sub-variant of Omicron. There have been some new changes in it. Which can help in its spread in this cold season, however, the vaccine can still help prevent serious cases. At present, this new variant has not been confirmed in India.

How effective will the vaccine prove to be

Professor Francois Balloux, director of the Genetics Institute at university College London, told the BBC that the new variant of Covid, XEC, has a "slight infection advantage" compared to other recently emerged Covid variants. Still, the patient can be saved from seriousness with the vaccine available in the market. XEC can become the main variant of corona in winter.
