The secret of illegal adoption of a child with hiv revealed!
The conspiracy of illegal adoption has been revealed during the appendix operation of an hiv positive child in Mumbai's Wadia Hospital. police have registered a case against two women from thane in this case, who were trying to adopt the child by fraud.
According to the report of The indian Express, when the child was admitted to Wadia Hospital due to health problems, the doctors found out that he was an hiv patient. When this information was given to the 'adoptive' mother, she refused to adopt the child and told that this child was given to her for adoption. After this, the hospital administration informed the women and Child Development Department, due to which this matter came to light.
How did the illegal adoption attempt happen?
police investigation revealed that the mother who gave birth to the child was financially weak and her husband was an alcoholic. During this time, she met another woman who could not have a child herself due to health reasons and wanted to adopt. They then decided that the other woman would adopt the child after its birth, but legal adoption did not seem possible.
According to the rules, the child should be given under the protection of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), a statutory body under the Ministry of women and Child Development and then CARA would decide who would be the adoptive parents of the child as per the prescribed procedures.
To avoid this tedious process and the long waiting list of eligible parents to adopt a child, the two women devised a plan. The pregnant woman got admitted to KEM Hospital in Parel, but the name of another woman was given in the documents. This way, the birth certificate of the child was issued in the name of the 'adoptive' mother, giving her the legal right to adopt.
