Taiwanese bubble tea is recognised by Google!!!

Sweet and creamy or tart and fruity? There are countless combinations!

The interactive Doodle game of today honours bubble tea, commonly referred to as boba tea and pearl milk tea. Whatever the flavour, don't forget to add some effervescent balls made of fruit jelly or tapioca, whether it's honeydew, matcha, raspberry, or mocha. On this day in 2020, a new emoji for bubble tea was formally unveiled due to its widespread appeal.

Over the past few decades, the popularity of this Taiwanese beverage has grown from its humble beginnings as a local delight. The origins of bubble tea can be traced back to Taiwan's historic tea culture, which dates to the 17th century. However, it wasn't until the 1980s that bubble tea as we know it today emerged. Over the past few decades, as waves of Taiwanese immigrants have sold this beverage globally, innovation on the original bubble tea has continued.

New flavours, additives, and blends are still being experimented with in stores all over the world. The boba craze has spread to nations like Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and more, and traditional tearooms all throughout Asia have joined in!

In today's interactive Doodle, which also includes a cast of well-known Doodle characters and Taiwan's native Formosan Mountain Dog, you may satisfy your need and brew a delicious cup of bubble tea!
