World Vegetarian Day - history of the day!!!


Every year on october 1, World Vegetarian Day is observed to raise awareness of the advantages of vegetarianism and how it contributes significantly to reducing environmental impact. Studies that support the advantages of plant-based diets and how they can improve health have made vegetarianism more and more popular in recent years. Numerous studies demonstrate how a vegan or vegetarian diet can lower your risk of developing heart disease and some types of cancer. Additionally, it can lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and obesity. There is a growing trend among celebrities to adopt vegetarianism or veganism in place of a non-vegetarian diet.

In order to spread awareness of the benefits of vegetarianism, including its joy, compassion, and ability to improve one's quality of life, the international Vegetarian Union and the North American Vegetarian Society jointly created World Vegetarian Day in 1977. Even in the Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment, when several notable individuals practised vegetarianism, the concept of vegetarianism was appealing to people. The first vegetarian society was founded in england in 1847, and the international Vegetarian Society was established in 1908. The first vegan society, however, was founded in 1944.
