Israel-Hamas war: Rafah Crossing - Control of Hamas&Egypt...
Rafah Crossing was previously controlled by Hamas and egypt, as was travel to and from the crossing. However, following Israel's intense bombardment, both activity and traffic at Rafah Crossing ceased. The Gaza crossing was blocked on october 9 and 10, following three attacks by israel, according to reports that appeared in the Egyptian media.
This attack resulted in injuries to those who were present in palestine and Egypt. The Egyptian government then requested that israel cease its bombing near the Rafah crossing on october 12 in order to provide relief supplies to the Gaza population. egypt did, however, also state unequivocally that it will not open this border unless its personnel's safety is secured. In addition, Western nations are attempting to convey that the Rafah crossing can serve as a secure path for both humanitarian aid and foreign passport holders who are currently in Gaza.
Prior to the crossing's opening, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and british Foreign minister James Cleverley stated that they were collaborating with israel, egypt, and other regional politicians to have the crossing completed. Residents of Gaza are swarming the Rafah crossing in the hopes that it will open as a result of these rumours. Rafah Crossing has now opened, though. Additionally, there were reports last monday stating that the Rafah crossing will be open for a while following the agreement on a truce. Additionally, a large group of individuals had assembled on monday close to this crossing after hearing this news.
