Many states of india are affected by Naxalism - chhattisgarh, jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, madhya pradesh and Kerala. How many civilians were killed by Naxalites?
According to a report of the Ministry of home Affairs, from 2004 to 15 september 2024, Naxalites have killed a total of 5496 civilians. The highest number of 720 civilians were killed in the year 2010. The lowest number of 82 civilians were killed in 2022. The number of civilians killed by Naxalites has decreased in the last few years, but it is still a matter of concern. Between 2004 and 2024, Naxalites have killed an average of 262 civilians every year.
When Naxalites burnt people alive by setting up a Taliban-like 'court'
In december 2024, Naxalites in chhattisgarh burnt two people alive on charges of spying by setting up a 'Jan Adalat' like the Taliban. This incident took place in Sawanar village of Gangalur police station area of Bijapur district. Apart from this, Naxalites also killed a worker of Jogi Congress. This incident took place in Jagargunda area of Sukma district, where Naxalites first beat up teacher arjun with sticks and then strangled him by setting up a 'Jan Adalat'.
This month, a similar incident was also reported in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. Naxalites killed two tribal villagers by setting up a Jan Adalat. However, the reason for the murder could not be made clear. In the village Korcholi of Gangalur police station area, the Naxalites held a Jan Adalat and killed a tribal youth Kamalu Potam and another tribal villager.
