Once Akbar commented to make fun of Birbal and said, “Birbal, you are an except shooter with tongue but you would get nervous, if you had to even hold a bow and arrow.”
All the courtiers present in the court were happy at hearing this because they thought that Birbal would not have an answer to it. But birbal answered, true to his nature, “My Lord, I am as good at archery as I am at talking.”
The king fell silent at hearing this, but the courtiers were unable to keep quiet since this was a good chance for them to run Birbal down. They started pressurizing the King to test his archery skills. Akbar Yielded and decided to test him.
Akbar, Birbal and the courtiers went to the garden. Birbal was given a bow and an arrow to shoot at a given target.
Birbal shot the first arrow, but missed the target. Promptly he remarked, “This was Do-Piaza’s arechery.” The second shot also missed which he claimed was Todarmal’s archery.
Per chance, the third shot hit the target. Now Birbal said very proudly, “And this was Birbal’s shot.” Akbar smiled at this, since he realized that once again Birbal had managed to fool everyone with his Clever talk.
