These questions are because according to an article in the Lancet Journal, a new disease tomato flu has come to the fore in india, which has affected more than 80 patients. What is tomato flu and its symptoms?

This disease was first found in children below 5 years of age in Kerala. In this disease, children get a red rash with fever (Tomato Fever) and a red rash which looks like some tomato symptoms. Usually, this disease is seen in children who have recently had dengue or chikungunya and they are also recovering from it. Fatigue, red rash, and joint pain can occur with fever in this disease.

Why is it named tomato flu?

Doctors told that this virus (Tomato Virus) is very different from other viruses and is also less dangerous. Usually, this disease gets cured in 5 to 7 days only by taking rest and taking fever medicine. It can spread from one child to another, but there is less chance of it spreading from children to adults. Although according to many experts, this is not a new disease, it has just been given the name tomato flu.

According to the report in the Journal, the first case of tomato flu was found on May 6 in Kollam, kerala and in three months the disease has engulfed 82 children. Apart from kerala, children have also been found in tamil Nadu, karnataka and Odisha. This disease does not spread as fast as coronavirus nor proves to be fatal like monkeypox. According to doctors, children get infected by this virus. Get rest, don't go to school and play, and keep giving fluids to the kids. This increases their chances of recovery.
