Authorities are in consultation with auto unions and consumers today following a high court order restructuring auto tariffs in tamil Nadu. The unions have demanded that the minimum wage be set at 50 rupees.



The union has demanded a minimum fare of Rs 50 per auto. Following the high court order, the unions held a public hearing today on auto tariffs. The comments made by the trade unions and consumers at this consultative meeting have been handed over to the government as a report.



It is learned that the report has been brought to the notice of the chief minister and the officials have informed the party that the fare of the autos will be fixed. At the meeting, the unions also demanded that the minimum wage be set at 50 rupees.



Earlier last week, a consultative meeting was held with the representatives of the auto Associations and the Consumer Welfare Associations under the chairmanship of the Joint Commissioner of Transport Sivakumaran regarding the revision of the auto meter tariff in tamil Nadu.




The auto meter charge was last fixed 8 years ago at a minimum of Rs 25 per 1.5 km and then Rs 12 per km thereafter. At present, the auto unions have demanded a minimum price of Rs 50 and then Rs 25 per km.
