Alert: Shape of the body-Risk of Diabetes/heart attack...
New research has revealed that people with apple-shaped bodies are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes and heart-related diseases. This is because high cholesterol is more in certain types of body shapes.
An apple may be good for you, but the risk of heart disease and diabetes for men who are apple-shaped is two and a half times that of those with any other body shape.
At the same time, the risk increases eight times for women with this shape. A study of more than 430,000 people found that those with an 'apple-like figure' were more likely than others to have everything from high blood pressure to high cholesterol.
People who are of 'apple shape' have more fat around their waist, hips and thighs. The researchers used data from a previous study to identify gene variants associated with the waist-hip ratio. They then developed a genetic risk score and applied it to four studies between 2007 and 2015, mapping the dna of more than 300,000 people, and studying more than 100,000 people.
Why apple shape body is risky?
Fat cells located in the abdomen release fat into the blood more easily than fat cells found elsewhere. Within 3 to 4 hours after a meal, fat cells begin to release fat and this translates into high triglyceride (TG) and free fatty acid levels. Free fatty acids cause insulin resistance.
If you are an apple-shaped figure then you have to pay a lot of attention to some things to improve insulin sensitivity and avoid high cholesterol.
Consume less fat and fewer calories,
Keep blood sugar normal,
Exercise regularly, (more muscle, less fat)
In any form of body shape, weight gain is a sure cause of disease. The excess weight of body shape like pear shape or hourglass is also risky.
