38,000 people die due to drowning every year in India...

Public safety is a serious issue in india and deaths due to drowning are a big part of it. Every year about 38,000 people lose their lives due to drowning in the country. This is a shocking figure and it shows that a lot still needs to be done for public safety. Recently three people died by drowning in the basement of a coaching center in the country's capital Delhi. After this, during the rains in delhi itself, two people died after falling into a 15 feet deep drain of DDA. When the bodies were taken out, the body of the son was in the lap of the dead mother.

These are just a few examples, every year so many people die by drowning. Especially during the monsoon season, most people are not able to save themselves from drowning due to floods in the hilly areas.

This is not a small matter. According to WHO, every year about 2.5 lakh people die by drowning across the world! That is 650 people every day and 26 people every hour. More than half of them were under the age of 30. This happens mostly in poor and developing countries. You can imagine how big a problem it is.

What is meant by drowning?

Drowning means filling the breathing space with water. When someone's mouth and nose get submerged in water, he is unable to breathe and slowly dies. Sometimes a person is even taken out of the water but even then his condition remains bad. It often happens that when someone is drowning, the people around either cannot see or cannot do anything. Even if someone survives with great difficulty, he may have problems like difficulty in breathing, vomiting, dizziness or unconsciousness. Apart from this, body temperature may decrease due to drowning, vomit may go into the lungs or there may be swelling in the lungs.
