Grows well in all types of soil... Farmers involved in dragon fruit farming...

We like to eat fruits because they contain many nutrients that our body needs. Most of the fruits that we eat are seasonal and not available all the time. So we eat fruits imported from foreign countries.

That's how Dragon fruit made it to our wishlist. This dragon fruit was first imported from abroad and cultivated in our country in the 90s. Eventually, this dragon fruit was cultivated in many parts of the country.
In that way, this dragon fruit was cultivated in many places in tamil Nadu. The fruit fetches a good price as the production is less than the demand for dragon fruit. Farmers in many parts of tamil Nadu are interested in cultivating dragon fruit as it grows in any type of soil.

DragonFruit is farmed at Velangannipuram in Attur in Dindigul district. Dragon fruits produced locally and people like to buy it. This fruit, which was seen as foreign in the beginning, is now popularly eaten in rural areas as more and more rural farmers have started cultivating it.

Regarding the cultivation of dragon fruits, farmer Soosai Manickam said, “We were growing grapes in our garden and tried to cultivate dragon brood as an alternative name. We bought it from Thiruthani and planted it. It has been a year and a half since the registration came to fruition.

After one and a half years we are taking good yield. Nowadays, this fruit is well-received among people. Most people love it and buy it. And we are doing drip irrigation for this dragon fruit.

If the fruit starts coming in the month of March, the fruit will continue to come till November. It only takes about a week from flower to fruit. people come directly to our forest to buy the fruit for its taste and medicinal properties. And we also take it to Dindigul and sell it,” he said.
