On this occasion, a Hindu senator of the pakistan People's party (PPP) tied a Rakhi to the party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

A large number of Hindu women and girls gathered in a temple located in the city's Jhanda Bazaar for worship in the morning and then preparations were made for Aarti. After participating in religious rituals, the women tied rakhis to their brothers. According to Lahore-based TV channel 'Bolda Punjab', the festival was also celebrated in the old Krishna temple in Lahore.
