How many machines are used in which farming?

75–80% of farming machines may not be used for another 25 years, according to government estimates. Nowadays, machines only complete 47% of the labor in farming. Machines are used differently in different farming tasks. Most machines are used in preparation for sowing seeds, about 70 percent of the work is done by machines. 40 percent machines are used in sowing or transplanting seeds.

32 percent machines are used in removing weeds and caring for crops. 34 percent machines are used in harvesting crops and extracting grains. If we look at all these, then on an average 47 percent of the work in farming is done by machines.

What is the problem faced by small farmers?

Machines for farming are very expensive. Therefore, it is difficult for small farmers to buy these machines. In view of this problem, the government has started 'Custom Hiring Center' and 'Farm Machinery Bank'. Farmers can share machines here. So far 37,097 such centers have been created, out of which 17,727 are farm machinery banks. A well-run centre provides machines to about 100 to 200 farmers.

The committee observed that farm machinery banks have been created in almost all the states. But their benefits have not yet reached the village, panchayat and district levels properly. The committee suggested that the government should make people aware of such schemes well and create an app to locate these centres.
