Children are the biggest victims of bihar floods,?

A few years ago, when schools started closing during the Covid-19 lockdown, perhaps for the first time the common indian noticed the impact of the closure of schools on children. It was difficult to keep them at home all day, and the loss of their studies was another. Now think about the flood-affected areas.

Officials of Bihar's education department say that about 1700 schools have been affected due to the impact of floods in the monsoon this year. More than 150 schools had to be closed in just four districts - Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Katihar and Supaul. Many of these are such that have been in the grip of the first wave of floods since July. During the last two months, more than 4000 schools remained submerged and the route to reach about 9000 schools was blocked.

Flood is a big problem

Flood is a problem that comes every year for Bihar. Due to this, children have to face all kinds of problems. These have a greater impact on the areas of Bihar's rivers, especially the Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, Bagmati and Mahananda. According to the Central Water Resources Department, bihar is the most flood-prone area and 17.2 percent of the flood-prone areas of the country come only in Bihar.

Out of 94.1 lakh hectares of land in bihar, 68.8 lakh hectares of land, that is, 76 percent of North bihar and 73 percent of South bihar, is flood-prone. Out of 38 districts of bihar, 28 are declared flood-prone. Now you can imagine that if 150 schools have to be closed in four districts only, then what would be the impact on all 28 districts combined. Floods can have a deep and long-term impact on children. These effects can be physical, mental and social.
