Smart farming with artificial intelligence!
Water shortage is a big problem for farming in India. But now artificial intelligence is helping to solve this problem. By using AI, farmers are able to use water properly and increase crop yield.
Microsoft Chairman satya Nadella recently explained how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing farming. In Baramati, Maharashtra, farmers have increased their crop yield by 40% by using AI through Project Farm Vibes (PFV). By using fertilizers correctly, farmers have saved up to 25% of fertilizers. By using water correctly, more than 50% of water has been saved. The wastage after harvesting has reduced by more than 12%.
This project is running in pune since 2023. In this, microsoft has created a special technology for farming and now it is available to everyone for free. Meaning, anyone can use these techniques to make farming better.
Satya Nadella said, "A small farmer from Baramati Co-op has increased the yield of his land by using this technique. He reduced the use of chemicals, used water properly and finally his crop was very good."
How did AI do this?
AI collected information from different places, such as drones, satellites and soil. Then using this information, AI told the farmer what he should do. All this happened in the farmer's own language, which made it easier for him to understand.
Many cutting-edge technologies are being used in Project Farm Vibes, which are making farming better.
Azure Data Manager for Agriculture (ADMA): This technology collects information from satellites, the Meteorological Department and sensors installed on the ground to find out the complete condition of the farm.
Farmvibes.AI: It monitors soil moisture, temperature, air humidity, pH and other important things using artificial intelligence.
Agripilot.ai: It uses Azure Maps and Azure OpenAI to give farmers accurate information about farming, so that they can grow good crops and also take care of the environment.
