train passengers..! Is the fare increasing?
If you are a frequent train traveler, you might be shocked to hear this news. Yes, Railway minister ashwini Vaishnav, while speaking in the lok sabha on Wednesday, mentioned that there is going to be an increase in train fares in the near future. Following this statement by ashwini Vaishna, the train fares are expected to increase in the coming times. Similarly, the Railway minister was asked questions in the lok sabha about the re-introduction of concessions on train fares for senior citizens before Covid-19. Responding to this question, the Railway minister said that at present 55 percent concession is being given to every passenger traveling by train.
Speaking further, he said that at present the per km cost of railways per passenger is around Rs.1.16. Railways charge only 45 to 48 paise per kilometer for this. Giving last year's figures, he said Rs 59,000 crore subsidy has been given by railways in passenger fares. He said that the Railways are continuously working on passenger facilities. In particular, the railway line is being expanded, including the operation of new trains. He said that people should understand the condition of railways in such a situation.
He said that many new facilities will be available for passengers in the coming years. He also said that additional decisions will be taken in the future regarding the increase in train fares.
He also said that our prime minister Modi has a great vision for railways. Earlier, ashwini Vaishnav, while responding to the cyber attack on Delhi's AIIMS server in Parliament, said that the work to ensure cyber security was going on at a multi-dimensional level. Apart from this, many measures have been taken, he said.
