Reason why the tomato price is going up..!?

Minister Periya Karuppan has explained the reason for the sudden rise in tomato prices. The public has been shocked as the price of tomatoes is selling up to 120 rupees per kg in the retail market. Speaking about this, minister Periyagaruppan said that due to the intense heat in the current summer, farmers have reduced their tomato cultivation. Tomato prices have increased due to the reduced arrival of tomatoes from neighboring states. While 800 tonnes of tomatoes were coming to coimbatore per day, that supply has now reduced to 300 tonnes. Considering the price hike, a kg tomato will be sold at Rs 60 in farm green shops. According to the instructions of the Chief minister, tomatoes will be sold at purchase price in 27 farm green shops in Chennai. It is planned to supply not only the farm green vegetable shops but also the mobile vegetable shop. Tomatoes are sold through farm green shops at 62 locations including coimbatore, Trichy, Thoothukudi, and Tiruvannamalai. minister Periya Karuppan has said that this action has been taken because the price of tomatoes has risen sharply in the open market, and strict action will be taken against those who hoard tomatoes taking advantage of this high price situation.
What is the problem:

Koyambedu Market, known as Asia's largest market, has more than a thousand wholesale shops, more than 2 thousand retail shops, and 850 food shops. Wholesale sales will be from 10 pm to 10 am and retail sales will be from 10 am to 10 pm. More than 650 vehicles are plying here every day. Tomatoes are generally sold in three varieties. In the Koyambedu market, one kg of the first variety of tomatoes is sold at 80 rupees, the second variety at 70 rupees, and the third variety at 60 rupees. About 9 lorries of tomatoes are available in the Koyambedu market per day. But in the past few days, the inflow has decreased due to the intensification of the southwest monsoon, according to the traders' association.

Highest available price:

This is the reason why a kilo of tomato is sold in retail shops for Rs 100 to Rs 120. According to the Traders Association, the price of tomatoes has gone up due to the reduced supply of tomatoes from states including Karnataka. It is noteworthy that the inflow has decreased due to the incessant rains affecting the yield. Tomato prices are expected to rise further.
