The market closed with a decline due to profit booking by investors in Tuesday's trading session. banking FMCG stocks have seen a big decline, while midcap and smallcap stocks have lost their shine in today's session. Sensex closed 400 points down from the day's high and Nifty closed about 180 points down. At the end of today's trading, the BSE Sensex closed with a marginal decline of 35 points at 79,441 points, while the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed with a decline of 18 points at 24,123 points.
Sectoral update
In today's trading session, stocks of IT, pharma, energy, media, real estate, infra and oil and gas sectors rose, while banking, auto, FMCG consumer durables, healthcare, metals and PSU bank index closed with a decline. In today's trading, midcap and smallcap stocks closed with a decline, due to which Nifty's midcap and smallcap index closed down. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 11 closed with gains and 19 closed with losses. According to BSE data, a total of 4008 stocks were traded in today's session, in which 2040 stocks closed with gains and 1877 closed with losses.
Market cap slipped
In today's trading session, the market cap of the shares listed on BSE has seen a decline. The market cap of BSE closed at Rs 442.17 lakh crore, which closed at Rs 443.05 lakh crore in the last session. That is, investors have suffered a loss of Rs 88 lakh crore in today's session.
