ASI demanded a bribe of 2 lakhs from a retired inspector!

Taking a major action against corruption in delhi police, the Vigilance Branch in a sensational operation arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sudesh Kumar Yadav of Model Town police station red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh. The surprising thing was that the person from whom the bribe was being taken was not a common citizen but a retired inspector of delhi Police. According to sources, the retired inspector, who lives in Mahendru Enclave, Model Town, was getting repair work done in his house. Then ASI Sudesh and his beat staff came and stopped the construction work. After this, the game of bribery started, in which a demand of Rs 4 lakh was made. Permission to resume the work could be given only if the money was given.

The deal to give the money was finalized on the evening of april 14

The complainant also sought help from the SHO but from there too he was advised to talk to ASI Sudesh. Eventually the matter was settled for 2 lakhs and the deal for paying the money was finalized on the evening of 14 April.

He was recording all the conversations

But ASI Sudesh did not know that the person in front of him was not an ordinary person but a retired officer who knew the tricks of the old khakidars and was recording all the conversations. A pen drive full of audio recordings was handed over to the vigilance branch along with the complaint. After that the vigilance unit planned a foolproof trap.

The entire amount of 2 lakhs was recovered from the pocket of the ASI

At 6:30 pm, as soon as ASI Sudesh took the bundle of bribe in his hand in the room located on the first floor of Model Town police station, the vigilance team standing outside immediately raided the place. The entire amount of 2 lakhs was recovered from the pocket of the ASI who was caught red handed taking bribe. Immediately a case was registered under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the accused was arrested and presented before the Special Judge of Rouse Avenue Court. It is worth noting that ASI Sudesh had joined delhi police in 1995, and was currently posted as a beat officer. Now his role is being thoroughly investigated. Forensic investigation has also been started to find out which other police officers are involved in the audio recordings.
