Madhavan is an actor who has constantly reinvented himself with the changing times whether in Tamil or Hindi cinema. His recent film Irudhi Suttru proved that that he has grown into an actor who is comfortable not taking centre-stage in a film and yet walking away with a lot of praise.
The story is beautifully told and the songs by A R Rahman are a major highlight
of the film as is the cinematography.
The movie catapulted Madhavan to stardom and his image as the young romantic
hero was reinforced.
Madhavan won Best Actor at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards 2003 while
Filmfare Award for Best Actor went to Kamal Hassan.
Madhavan proved that his chocolate boy image is just one aspect of him and that
he can be the angry young man when required on screen.
Madhavan had acted as a boxing coach in the movie. Rithika Singh had acted as a
boxer, who is also a real boxer by profession.
