Ace director Maniratnam had last delivered the blockbuster multistarrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and his next happens to be the historical mega-budget movie ponniyin selvan which happens to be the celluloid adaptation of kalki Krishnamoorthy's classic novel of the same name.
Maniratnam began shooting in thailand last year, where he had canned shots featuring aishwarya Rai, karthi, jayam ravi, Jayaram, and aishwarya Lekshmi, and following the wrap of the first schedule of the movie in thailand, he has started filming now in Pondicherry.
It has been said that the next schedule will have scenes of ravi -Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>jayam ravi and next the team is set to move to hyderabad to shoot in specially erected sets and ponniyin selvan has a huge cast that also includes trisha, Vikram, aishwarya Rai, Prabhu, vikram prabhu among others. But the shooting has been stalled due to the corona virus pandemic. In this case, as aishwarya Rai has been tested positive for corona virus, the team is now looking to replace aishwarya Rai with anushka Shetty. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made in this regard.
