The new year has here, which means a slew of new comic-book-inspired films and television shows are on the way. One of them is HBO's Max's Peacemaker, which will pick up where The Suicide Squad left off with christopher Smith / Peacemaker (John Cena). Peacemaker's three-episode premiere is just a few weeks away, so HBO Max and writer and creator james Gunn have created a new trailer.

Cena, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, and Rizwan Manji as Jamil will feature in the Peacemaker series. When the series was first announced, creator james Gunn said, "Peacemaker is an opportunity to delve into contemporary world concerns via the prism of this superhero/supervillain/and world's biggest douchebag." "I'm looking forward to expanding The Suicide Squad and giving this character from the DC film universe a whole series. And, of course, being able to collaborate with John, Peter, and my Warner Bros. colleagues once more is the cherry on top."

Peacemaker is rehired by the US government in the series, although this time without the rest of the Suicide Squad. The only reason Peacemaker is on this assignment, according to his handler (Chukwudi Iwuji), is because the world needs a "son of a b*tch." He also cracks a filthy joke about Wonder Woman before making tone-deaf remarks about women in general.
