Dhanush's love life is much more terrible. It appears to be an afterthought to the core sister emotion. The fact that we get quite an out-of-date product from a great young director and that it stars such wonderful performers is the worst letdown. Following the tragic incident, the second hour takes a thriller turn. Even these sections, though, are dull and lack energy and momentum. The police interrogation of Maaran is both ridiculous and awful. Throughout, they give off an unprofessional feeling.

Only towards the end of the film, in the closing 15 min, does Maaran become interesting. The first shock isn't really surprising, but the second leads to a gripping drama. One only wishes there was more of this throughout the storey. Overall, Maaran is an out-of-date and absolutely uninteresting drama with a base in investigative journalism. It's so terrible that not even the best actors can stop it from being barely watchable.

Ramki is fine in a quick appearance. Samuthrakani hasn't been this squandered in a long time. aadukalam naren does a good job in a forgettable role. The remainder of the cast is completely unnoticed. But, on the other hand, one may ask what would be left if he mercilessly removed the unnecessary pieces. malavika Mohanan, on the other hand, has been mocked for her performance, with fans pleading with her to return to the Ullu series.
