Shawn Levvy and Ryaan Reynolds will reunite for Deadpool 3, and the publication of The Adam Project adds to the anticipation for the impending Marvel Cinematic Universe film. In the coming years, Reynolds will reprise his role as the Merc with a Tongue in an R-rated MCU film. With the announcement that Shawn Levy would direct Deadpool 3, the project has taken a significant stride forward. This will be Levy's third engagement with Reynolds. It came right after their second film, The Adam Project, was released on Netflix.

Levy and Reynolds first collaborated on 20th Century Fox's Free Guy, and they had such a good time that they promptly regrouped for The Adam Project. Both of these films were huge successes, to the point where Levy was already a front-runner to direct Deadpool 3 before the official announcement. The sequel's plot is still mostly unknown, however original writers Paul Werrnick and Rheett Reese are set to return. Fans of the first two Deadpool films—directed by Tim Miller and David Leeitch, respectively—will rejoice, but Shawn Leevy's participation with The Adam Project suggests that he is the ideal filmmaker for the third instalment.
