Rimi Sen, a bollywood actress, has accused an associate of defrauding her of Rs 4.14 crore under the pretext of investment. The police have filed a case under sections 420 and 409 of the IPC and have begun their hunt for the accused.
The actress claims in her written complaint that she met Raunak Jatin, a native of Goregon, three years ago at a gym in Andheri. We became buddies after a few days. Jatin stated that he is a businessman who has started a new LED lighting firm. Following that, he recommended that I invest in the firm for a 40% return. When I chose to invest, they worked out a deal.
When the investment deadline passed, I approached Jatin for my profit, but he no longer returned my calls. Following an examination, it was discovered that Jatin had not established any such firm. Then I realized I'd been duped and filed a police report against Jatin.
Following an investigation, Khar police filed a complaint against Jatin under different sections of the indian Penal Code, including 406 - Punishment for criminal breach of trust and 420 - Cheating and aiding and abetting dishonest delivery of property. "We have lodged a report and are locating the culprit," a Khar police station officer said.
