The next movie starring ajith, whose working title was AK61, now has a title and a first look. Thunivu is the name of the next film, which is directed by H Vinoth (fortitude or courage). ajith is pictured in a recliner clutching a rifle in the first look poster. The actor has a thick white beard, and the photo also shows him with an ear stud. Although Thunivu's character and other specifics are not evident from the first look poster, it appears that the movie will be another actioner from Ajith. The name is also reminiscent of his other projects, Vivegam, Veeram, and Valimai, which are celebrated personal qualities.

The movie is said to be loosely based on the 1987 punjab National bank Robbery. news sources characterised the crime as India's largest daylight bank robbery a day after the theft of Rs 5.7 crore. The two-hour theft, which involved about 20 terrorists, was later the subject of an investigation by the CBI.

Six of them had entered the bank at 9.10 am on the pretence of being police officers and checking the security setup. The armed intruders had instructed them to sit down and lower their heads as the staff later started to arrive. They kept bank personnel and customers inside the safe after collecting the money, then left in two matadors and a Fiat. The robbers all ranged in age from 20 to 40.
