As james Cameron's newest film "Avatar: The Way Of Water," often known as avatar 2, prepares to open in theatres on december 16 worldwide, this week will be a major show on the big screen. Given that this sequel is being released 13 years after the first, the film's producer, Disney, also planned a significant release in india in a variety of languages, including Hindi, telugu, and Tamil.

3 hours and 12 minutes long, "Avatar: The Way Of Water" was recently UA-censured in India. If the pre-sales of tickets are any indication, the movie already generated $7 crores on Opening Day in India. Nearly 1 lakh tickets were sold through PVR, Cinepolis, and Imax, and another lakh tickets were sold on single screens. avatar 2 already reported a first-weekend income of 16 crores from these multiplexes. And there is talk that the movie could surpass several notable bollywood films with a first-weekend gross of between 50 and 80 crores in India.

While that may be the true on a national level, telugu states and Tier 2 towns are reportedly in for a big shock from the developers of avatar 2. According to rumours, the two biggest telugu producers ultimately refused to pay the money Disney requested, thus it appears that the company's india branch, UTV, is handling the distribution directly with several telugu distributors and exhibitors. The catch is that Disney is giving telugu state distributors of avatar 2 a sizable share—nearly 30–40%—but only under the condition that they show the movie even during Sankranthi.

Avatar 2 will be provided to local distributors and exhibitors who engage into a "understanding" that they won't replace the movie, not even during the Sankranthi season. Because they want to highlight Waltair Veerayya and Veerasimha reddy for Pongal, this has put everyone in a bind. We need to wait and see.
