The straightforward story of a husband and wife who get married and experience difficulties in their marriage is told in Kalyanam Kamaneeyam. The husband does not have a job, but the wife does. majili and mister Pellam, two husband-and-wife films, have deeper plots and more intense conflicts. Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, however, overlooks this. Its point is quite narrow. As a result, it becomes a rather commonplace movie.

Despite the good performances of the key actors, the plot of the movie is predictable. The events can be predicted with ease. One wonders why Santosh chose this formulaic family romance with no unexpected developments. The narration is also uninteresting. Despite having a shorter running length, the movie includes some dull parts, especially in the second half. The narrative is truthful. The major letdown is that there isn't a compelling tale.

Overall, it might be best to postpone this movie for its OTT or tv release. Given that there are prominent stars competing, it obviously lacks the allure to draw crowds to theatres during this Sankranthi season. In this case, the female lead in an interview indirectly hinted that she was uncomfortable with some intimate scenes during shooting.
