Shiv Shastri Balboa, a lovely and straightforward slice-of-life story starring anupam kher and Neena Gupta, is watchable despite its flaws. The main character in the movie is a retired banker who is a die-hard fan of the rocky movie series. To be closer to his family, he chooses to relocate to the US. He meets a Hyderabadi domestic assistant there and they become buddies. The two go off on a journey that goes wrong. What transpires when they attempt to restart things is the focus of the remaining portion of the narrative.

Shiv Shastri Balboa's story concentrates upon the journey of two underdogs, making it innately relatable. It also has shades of Rishi Kapoor's last film, Sharmaji Namkeen. In both movies, the main characters find out what life is all about once they retire.

The opening portions of the movie introduce us to the main character and his straightforward goals. Despite their inherent slowness, these moments appeal to viewers who enjoy wholesome, straightforward dramas. After afterwards, the focus moves to the US, where the title character discovers that he is a stranger in a strange land. Although these scenes aren't really entertaining, they occasionally manage to make us laugh.

However, Shiv Shastri Balboa excels when the interactions between anupam kher, Neena Gupta, and Sharib Hashmi are highlighted. In particular, the "meet the parents" moment is particularly enjoyable. It succeeds primarily due to the pleasant combination of awkward silences and situational humour.

In the second half, there are two significant turns that, sadly, aren't fully developed. It's frustrating that the climax, which had the potential to be poignant, felt rushed as well.
