Few would dispute that rajamouli is the biggest commercial film director in indian cinema. But rajamouli also hears caste-related comments from the local telugu population. rajamouli still receives casteist remarks despite producing international hits. He is accused of belonging to the kamma community by some tollywood fans and journalists, who also spit hatred at him. A major hollywood media organization questioned rajamouli about the caste system in India, and he provided a very fascinating response.

"My family does not support the caste system. In fact, until I started college, I had no idea what my caste was. There was a column about our caste when my father came down to fill out my form. He resisted filling it. I learned about the caste system for the first time at that point, according to Rajamouli. rajamouli has never been associated with casteism, and neither does his corpus of work. But regrettably, he frequently hears casteist comments from a segment of the telugu population.

S.S. rajamouli was born in 1973 to a family from a dominating caste in the southern indian state of Karnataka. He picked up the craft of filmmaking through a variety of odd jobs and apprenticeships, including a lengthy period spent working for his successful screenwriter father Koduri Viswa Vijayendra Prasad.
