Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Mani Ratnam, a great filmmaker. It is the second and final installment of ponniyin selvan, which is based on the kalki Krishnamurthy epic novels of the same name.  Part 2 of ponniyin selvan picks up where part 1 left off. The envoy sent to save the kingdom from destruction is captured as the Chola heirs are being attacked. This captivating narrative captures the reader's interest right away.

The slow pace and other problems from part one are still present. The superb diverse cast's well-staged drama, nevertheless, manages to keep the audience's interest. The fact that we are familiar with many of these personalities also helps.  Even if one is familiar with many of the roles and the narrative moves slowly, one can occasionally become confused with the characters, and the plot demonstrates how deep the story is. It continues to be the fundamental problem with the two-part films.

There are many face-offs and (mildly) tense situations throughout the story, which is blatantly drama-driven. However, since they are done subtly, there are no tremendous highs. Around the halfway point, there is a slight twist that gets the closest to simulating that sensation.  After the break, the intensity picks back up as we advance to crucial points in the narrative. The emotions peak in the second half when a few threads come to a close. The most well-known of these is the Vikram-Aishwarya Rai one. Both performers are excellent in their roles, which benefits the story.

The culmination of all the turmoil is a massive battle for the crown. A massive military scenario is skillfully but sparingly filmed from above. One feels a little unfulfilled at the finish due to this and the fact that the stories of several well-known individuals are not fully resolved.  Despite its flaws, ponniyin selvan 2 manages to maintain the interest of viewers who are already invested in the characters and setting. With realistic expectations already in place, the scale, ambition, and casting make this a one-time watch.
