The kerala Story, the year's most contentious movie, has gained national attention. The movie brought in an impressive Rs. 8 crores on its opening day, and on its second day, it has miraculously increased by almost 60%. Collections have increased dramatically by more than 100% in places like maharashtra where it did poorly on the first day. The second day's revenue will be in the 13 to 14 crore area. The industry anticipates that Sunday's collections increased much more.

Instead of the movie's calibre or production, the film's excellent box office result can be attributed to the contentious and sensationalised subject. The kerala Story's triumph has cheered up the exhibitors, who were depressed because no movie released following the smash Pathaan has been even a passing success. The movie is already a success because of its tight budget, and it is anticipated that when it is all said and done, it will become a huge hit.

Ironically, that is not the same case in tamil Nadu and kerala as the movie was replaced by 'Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3' and it was a big disaster everywhere. Multiplex Association decided not to screen the movie after one show as the movie is spreading hatred and false propaganda. Once again, North india and South india are completely different whereas the movie is the Biggest disaster in South while it is labelled as success in North.
