Adipurush, starring Prabhas, has encountered debate regarding Sita's conception. In Kathmandu, nepal, screenings of the movie were halted because Sita is supposedly depicted as being Indian. Based on the Hindu epic Ramayana is Adipurush. On the Valmiki Ramayana, it is based. A dispute broke out regarding Sita's birthplace. The request is to take out the line in the movie that says "Janki is the daughter of India." According to the Ramayana, Sita was born in Janakpur, which is thought to be in modern-day nepal, and Rama later travelled there to wed her.

The mayor of Kathmandu, Balen Shah, condemned the fact that Sita was born in india as depicted in the film and gave the Adipurush filmmakers until midnight to remedy the error both in india and Nepal. He threatened to ban all indian film screenings in Kathmandu, the capital city of nepal, if the error is not fixed within the next three days.

On june 16, the day of the film's release, movie theatres all over Kathmandu ceased showing Adipurush. All of Kathmandu's movie theatres have been encouraged by the nepal Film Union to halt showings of Adipurush. It requested that the theatres outside of Kathmandu evaluate the environment and security before deciding when to open the film.

In a letter posted on Thursday, Mayor Balen Shah stated that Adipurush thinks "Sita is the daughter of India." "No hindi film will be permitted to run in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City until and unless the tagline 'Janki is a daughter of India' in the South indian film Adipurush is corrected not only in nepal but also in India. There are three days left to fix this. In Nepali, he wrote, "All hail Mother Sita."

In a statement, Nepal's QFX Cinemas stated, "Nepal In order to protect our viewers' safety, QFX will not air "Adipurush." We're anticipating the government's choice. We will send out another message and apologies for the inconvenience to our viewers as soon as this problem is rectified.
